Privacy Policy

This explains what the channel website collects about you and why. We keep it to what's needed to run the stream and chat.
What we store
- Your account: username, name colour, badges, and your password in a scrambled form (we can't read it).
- Your email address: to confirm your account, send password reset links, and warn you about logins from a new browser. If the box is ticked at sign-up, also to tell you when the stream goes live. The box starts unticked in the EU, EEA, UK, Switzerland and Canada, judged from your device's time zone and region setting, which aren't sent to us. You can turn these emails off any time in Profile & settings or with the unsubscribe link in each one. We never share it or send marketing. Emails are delivered by our email service provider, which handles them only to deliver them.
- Browsers you've logged in from: a random id per browser (in a cookie), so we can tell you about logins from a new one.
- Password checks: when you choose a password, we check it against known data breaches with Have I Been Pwned. Only the first five characters of a one-way scramble of it are sent, never the password itself.
- Chat: the messages you send, so new viewers can see recent chat and moderators can act on reports. Messages a moderator removes are hidden from chat but kept as a record until your account is deleted.
- Live notifications: if you click "Notify me", your browser gives us an address at its notification service (Google, Mozilla, Microsoft or Apple) to send "we're live" alerts to. Nothing else about you is attached. Click the button again, or block notifications in your browser, to stop them.
- Clips: clips you make are public links that show your username, the title you gave them and how often they were watched. You, a moderator or the channel owner can delete one.
- Moderation records: timeouts, bans and other moderator actions involving your account, short notes moderators keep about accounts (for example a warning), any ban appeal you send with the moderator's answer, reports you send about messages or people (moderators see who sent a report; the person reported doesn't), and your votes in chat polls. You can see all of these in your data download.
- Network address (IP): used briefly, in memory, to limit spam and sign-up abuse. It isn't saved to our database.
Cookies and local storage
- Two essential cookies: one keeps you logged in, the other recognises browsers you've logged in from (for new-login alerts). Neither is used for tracking.
- Your browser remembers small preferences like volume and theater mode. They never leave your device.
- Your browser also keeps a random id, sent to our server while you watch so you count as one viewer however many tabs you have open. It isn't linked to your account or saved on our server.
- Advertising cookies from Google, described below.
Payments
Supporter subscriptions and tips are processed by Stripe. Stripe handles your card details; we only receive a customer reference, your subscription status and renewal date, and the amount and message of any tip. Stripe's privacy policy covers the payment information it collects.
Advertising
Viewers who aren't supporters see ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to show ads, which may be based on your earlier visits to this and other websites. You can learn more in how Google uses information from sites that use its services and turn off personalised ads in Google's Ads Settings. Visitors in the EU, UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalised ads are shown. Supporters and moderators never load ads.
Watching the stream
While you watch logged in, your username shows in the chat's Who's watching list, like it would if you chatted. Log out to watch without appearing there.
Video is delivered directly from our streaming server. Like any website, it sees your network address while you watch; we don't log or keep it.
Who we share with
Only the services named above, to run the site. We don't sell your information.
How long we keep it
- Your account and messages are kept until you delete your account or a moderator removes them.
- When you delete your account, your account, messages and badges are removed. Records of tips are kept without your name, because payment records must be kept for accounting.
- Backups of the site are kept for up to two weeks.
Your choices
- Download a copy of your data any time in Profile & settings → Your data.
- Change your username, picture, bio and name colour in Profile & settings.
- Delete your account any time in Profile & settings → Delete account. This removes your account and your chat messages.
- To correct something else, or ask any privacy question, contact us by .
Children
The site isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
